THE ISLAND
The Island has a much higher elevation than most
islands on the lake, this combined with the
westerly wind pattern make insects a minimal
problem. We rarely have black flies;
occasionally heavy winds will blow a few in from
miles away.
The island is heavily forested with some truly
spectacular old growth trees. A diverse mix of
White pine, Red pine, Oaks, Maple, Birch and
Linden
The island is surrounded by Crown land closed to
development which assures continued solitude.
There is no traffic noise, no light pollution.
Hiking trails can accommodate various energy
levels with the varied terrain of open rock to
cool shady wooded areas.
Bird watching is always a treat, Humming Birds
are a constant summer companion, Eagles, Osprey,
and of course the majesty of the Loon!
MAIN COTTAGE
*Large open concept Family room 18 x 24 Kitchen,
and dining area. Regency air tight wood stove
with glass door on raised brick hearth. All
overlooking lake. Kitchen has newer propane frig
with across top freezer, stove and a separate
freezer unit 6 cu. Ft. Also propane lighting.
*Living Room 22 x19 Natural floor to ceiling
granite stone fireplace. Stone cut on the
island. Old barn timber frame and support
cathedral knotty pine ceiling.
*Master Bedroom 11 x 20 with on suite 3 pc.
Bathroom.
*Second Bedroom 12 x 16 Finished in knotty pine,
sliding glass door wall to outside.
*Bath area 7 x 11 Composting toilet, shower and
sink. Walk in closet has access to sleep loft
above.
*Large 8 x 10 storage area with shelves and
closet off family room.
*Spectacular screened porch 9 x 20 sitting
approximately 15 feet above the lake overlooking
the open lake great for morning coffee or
spectacular sunsets. Popular feeding area for
ever present vocal loons.
*Quite separate sleep cabin12 x 16 (Bunkie)
right on water edge.
*Large storage building 10 x 15 houses propane
tanks, garden equipment, misc. storage and Hondo
generator.
*2 docks; Main dock with covered boat slips.
First slip 12 x 24, second slip 8 x 24.
*Sauna off main dock area 10 x 12 with
multi-level cedar benches. Also off main dock
area storage building 10 x 12 for boat
equipment, etc., with 2 twin beds. Adjacent to
main dock is a sandy bottom bay area with safe
swimming for kids and adults.
*Back dock area is open, has great views of the
lake with quite seating area perfect mornings or
evenings. The path is gentle easy walking with a
spectacular view as your reward for a short walk
from the cabin.
*Completely FURNISHED after 30 years probably
over furnished.
*Sheltered kayaking from Duck Creek to West Bay
and onto the French River along the South Shore.
*Vegetable and flower garden area used every
summer. Lots of perennials
*Gravity feed water system with reliable Honda
pump.
*Extensive wood decks, with ramps and steps
blended to cottage, flower gardens and docks.
*Complete shutters for all window areas.
*Room sizes are not precise. Haven't measured
some rooms in 20 years.
*Reliable local handyman available, he does new
construction to minor repairs. He will pull or
launch boats and has winter boat storage
available.
